Youth transforming food systems
From idea to action
Youth are often approached as the recipients and ‘victims’ of current flaws in policies and decision-making processes. However, youth are very active in the food-climate space and present themselves as advocates for change, showcasing their agency to influence policies and practices.
This session will showcase current youth-led initiatives that are resulting in policy changes within the food system – presenting how one idea can spark a system change.
By showcasing these initiatives the session will contribute to positioning young people as drivers of change and innovative thinkers; steering away from the image of youth being ‘powerless’ or ‘lazy‘ actors within the food-climate space, and how they are bringing new innovative ways to bring different unique and out-of-the-box ways as we shape a new policy landscape.
This event is complementary to the next event, where we look into the flipside – on barriers youth are facing to engage in the policy spaces, and how we can reduce them to allow for more flexibility.
