Special Address by Agnes Kalibata
Keynote: Global and regional action can address the overlapping crises – the impact of climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, and other humanitarian emergencies – which are reversing decades of progress. The work across 148 countries for the 2021 Food Systems Summit and the regional engagement at Africa’s Food Systems Summit offers numerous examples of how we can accelerate change, build resilience and protect the most vulnerable from these shocks.
Bio: Dr. Kalibata is the President of AGRA, sustainably growing Africa’s food systems. She is former Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for the 2021 Food Systems Summit and a former Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources for Rwanda. She is assisting the technical dialogues for the Paris Agreement Article 14 Global Stocktake and is also on the Climate Overshoot Commission – both expert driven processes to raise ambitions for climate action.
